Sony Ericsson has released 3 brand new walkman phone to coincide with the 3rd birthday of Walkman Phones. They are W902, W595 and W302.
W902 Phone
This phone is a higher end phone. This phone features 8GB Memory Stick Micro which allows storing of over 8000 songs at anytime. It also sports a great video quality. The phone also consists of a 5 MP Camera with 16x digital zoom. It has a bright and clear 2.2" display and available in 3 colours namely Volcanic Black, Wine Red and Earth Green. This is a mid range phone consisting of a 2GB memory stick which can store 1900 songs in eAAC+ encoded format. It also has a 3.2MP camera. Firefox 3.0.1 Released
Last month, a very critical hole was discovered in the Firefox source code which affected both Firefox 3 and Firefox 2.x.x and the point of concern for all the users was that it could allow a hacker to execute commands remotely on a machine. Therefore to fix this, Mozilla has released a minor update to Firefox 3 i.e. Firefox 3.0.1. Firefox 3.0.1 fixes three critical security vulnerabilities, improves stability and resolves a handful of other small bugs. The Security improvements in Firefox 3 means that it's no longer vulnerable to some of the Firefox 2 variants of the command-line multiple tab exploit but it can still be compromised by combining the attack with a script injection flaw. The non-security fixes include an issue where the phishing and malware database did not update on first launch and a problem that could cause Firefox to not save the security certificate exceptions list properly. To know more on the details of the updates/fixes it has provided, you can check the Firefox 3.0.1 Release Notes and the new version can be downloaded from the Mozilla website. Persons already using Firefox 3 can get it via Automatic updates tab built into the browser (Go to Help -> Check for updates in the topmost bar, that should do the job).
Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na Movie Review
Jaane Tu… was probably one of the most awaited movie on my list, Firstly because it was an Aamir Khan Production, Secondly the music was awesome which was rendered by the maestro AR Rehman himself and Thirdly, (though it is more of a personal reason) that Genelia was starring in it.
So I had gone to see the movie with a lot of expectations and expectedly I was not let down. The movie is simply mindblowing. Though it is a usual love story but it is the presentation that takes you aback. The movie appears so closer to life that sometimes you feel it is a story of your own college days. The movie will take you through the various faces of human relationship i.e. make you laugh, make you a little sad etc. Finally when the movie ends, you are thoroughly entertained. Imran and Genelia are simply mindblowing in their acting. There is not even a single dull moment in the whole movie. Not to forget all the other people in the gang who pitch in with a remarkable performance taking the movie to a whole new level. A special mention must be made of Prateik Babbar who plays the brooding brother of Genelia in the movie.
The movie especially the song "Nazrein Milaana" brought back some memories from my own college days. We too had a group and we used to generally hang out every other day then. And yeah, we’ve taken a ride in the bullock cart too and not to forget we too had a couple in our gang alike Imran and Manjari Phadnis who behaved exactly like them :)

Well the movie revolves around a group of college buddies i.e. Jai Singh Rathore (Imran Khan), Aditi (Genelia), Jignesh Patel (Nirav Mehta), Sandhya (Aliskha Varde), Shaleen (Sughanda) and Rotlu (Karan) who are there for each other and enjoying every moment of LIFE as the gang of friends. Tired of everyone misunderstanding their strictly platonic friendship for love, Jai and Aditi decide they must find each other suitable romantic partners who aren't threatened by the closeness the two of them share. Little do they realise that what they feel for each other is indeed love, a reality that dawns upon them in the later part of the movie when they are with different partners and then the film culminates with the Imran proposing to Genelia in a typically filmi style at an airport.
Music :
What to say about the music other than saying that it is done by the Genius AR Rehman itself. All the songs are extremely catchy and will be on the lips of the people for a long time. A special mention must be made of the songs "Kabhi Kabhi Aditi" , "Pappu Can't Dance" and "Nazrein Milaana" song which are simply out of this world.
Acting :
Ratna Pathak Shah is excellent as Jai's Mother. Prateik Babbar is good as the brooding brother of Genelia. Manjari Phadnis also make a mark as Jai's love interest. But the USP of the movie has to be Imran Khan and Genelia's Chemistry and their spontaneous acting. I must say that Imran Khan is the best actor that has come out among the batch of the new actors. Other people in the gang also come up with a remarkable performance.
Abbas Tyrewala definitely needs a pat on the back for giving us a such a delightful movie.So people please make time and watch this movie coz this is a definite "must not miss" movie.

Love Story 2050 Review

Finally I caught up with this movie few days ago but now repenting about why did I watch this movie. This is one of the worst movies I have seen in recent times. This movie can be surely made as a case study for testing your patience and I am sure everybody will flunk in that test. After all, it's that rare breed of film that gets almost nothing right — starting from a script that's so predictable, direction that is surprisingly absent, and acting that is so amateurish that you would want tell them to take a course in acting before they try their next film.
For anyone still interested, here goes the review.
The movie kicks off in present day Adeleide where Karan (Harman Baweja) falls head over heels in love with Sanaa (Priyanka Chopra) on seeing her chasing butterflies in a park. The movie then proceeds in the expected manner i.e. guy wooing the girl, doing stupid stunts to make her happy etc. Harman Baweja hams through out the film and tries to ape hrithik in almost every still of the movie, the most used dialogue being "I don't need luck, I have love". After a lot of unbearable childish wooing and many songs later she returns the sentiment, then a trip to his uncle, Uncle Ya's house is also made who is researching on inventing a time machine and like in a normal bollywood movie she dies, gets killed by a speeding truck when she is crossing the road.

Then again a whining session of Harman Baweja starts. In the next scene we realise that Miss Sana had 'rightly' corrected genius Uncle Ya's equation (Alpha to infinity) , thus enabling the proper functioning of his 'Time Machine'. So unable to bear up with his whinings, they take off for a trip to future. For some strange reason they're convinced Sanaa is alive and is in Mumbai 2050. This is where the intermission break was given and I'm sure I heard every person in the multiplex was overjoyed to hear the Intermission bell.
Next, we are transported to the world of flying cars, virtual maids and robot sidekicks, Sana is Zeisha now and a famous international popstar. Karan tracks her down and stalks her everywhere like an obsessed teenager right from her mid air concert to her talk show on TV and also her ridiculously strange Xbox gaming Session and suddenly the modern day sci-fi theme takes an ancient Bollywood turn with the reincarnation theme where he tries to rekindle memories of her past life with just one song and succedes in bringing her to the present day.
Somewhere in the middle of all this, there is also a archetypal villain (who chooses to keep his face covered with a mask for reasons very well known) who is after the scientist's time machine and won't give up until the protagonists are chased through out the specially created futuristic city.
Performances: Harman Baweja is on of the biggest blows of the movie who is so busy to look, dance and act like Hrithik Roshan that we forget that it is not a Hrithik's duplicate who is acting but Harman Baweja. Priyanka Chopra tries to give justice to her performance but fails to evoke any emotion of sympathy or affection. Quality actors like Boman Irani etc are simply wasted by the director in the movie. Though the special effects manage to salvage some pride but still is not enough to save the movie from being a disaster.
Therefore my Ratings for the movie would be 1/5 which is solely for the special effects in the movie.
P.S. Interestingly if you observe the background score in the later parts of the movie, it is highly inspired from Avast! antivirus virus detection tone :)

Fujitsu's new F706i waterproof phone is exactly what one needs if you are a water baby and also a mobile freak.
The F706i is a slim clam shell flip phone that weighs in at 137g. It's equipped with a large 2.7-inch display that swivels to landscape style viewing. It features a 1Seg TV tuner. It also has a 2 megapixel camera and support for microSD cards for memory expansion. The handset is also capable of HSDPA connectivity speeds with a full web browser. It also comes with a multimedia player that’s said to read quite a few of the more popular AV formats. But the USP of the phone is that it’s usable up to 6 meters underwater. Hmm... Very Interesting, isn't it?

Time Period: Teach India is looking for volunteers who can participate in the program for 3 months. If you wish to continue teaching, the same may be made possible by the NGO you are working with through mutual discussion.
Type Of Education: A variety of programmes, including basic education, support classes and even story-telling are available. These are all very easy to teach programmes in which simple topics have to be taught to children mostly at primary school level.The teaching would be one-on-one or to small groups of children. The type of programme a volunteer is assigned to, will be decided after assessment by the NGO, keeping your location and time preference in mind.

Some days ago, We had our fest in our college. One of the organizers approached me and asked me if I could prepare a playlist so as to fit a Fashion show as he was not happy with the one the choreographer had made. I said okie as he was one of my best friends, so why not do it. I heard the whole concept of their fashion show and also heard the songs selected for the show. The first song was good so I continued and heard the other songs but I was suprised more in the sense shocked at the selection of the songs the choreographer had selected, it was completely rock and jazz. I didnt know in what state of mind did he select such songs. I told my friend that these songs will not work for show as the feel will be completely different.
Imagine a traditional fashion show with rock playing background. Ya you guessed it right, these are the right ingredients for a disaster. I told my friend the same and he agreed to it and told me to start afresh. I went searching for songs everywhere, through my collection, on the net, enquired my friends etc etc. Finally I came up with a playlist full of Indian songs suiting exactly to the theme of the show and showed it to him. My friend was overjoyed hearing the songs. He told me that it was awesome and thanked me a lot. I felt happy at his reaction and appreciation for my hard work. But my joy was shortlived as he came back the next day and told me that the choreographer had rejected all the songs saying that the songs are not good. He also added that all other members in the team just loved my music and only the choreographer had problems with it. I told him that it was his wish whether he wants to choose the songs or not. He was in a dilemma as he wanted to choose my songs but could not bcoz of the choreographer. After some days, he told me that he has coaxed his choreographer and managed to add a few songs of my playlist.
Finally the day of the show arrived, I went to see that show, I was particularly curious as to how the choreographer had fit rock and jazz in a traditional show. The show started. The first two round went on smoothly as the lone song I had liked in his playlist and one of my songs were used in it. But when the third sequence started, as I had contemplated, it was very bad to see traditional with Rock background. I thanked god that the show ended very soon. After the customary praise and calculated adulation shared with the fashion team. I went back home that night and sat on my bed. Something was bothering me. I asked myself if a part of me was secretly happy that fashion show was a disaster. Was I happy that a competitor might have erred in his selection? And the truth is, I was happy, and that made me feel sick.
It doesn’t really matter how hard you introspect for that answer, the reality I guess is that it is in human nature to be jealous of someone for his or her success. Here I was, feeling pleasure from a classmate’s imminent pain that his show flopped.
Why is it so easy, so natural for people to feel a tinge of excitement when another person misses the mark with their work? Why does a section of people secretly wish that you fail so that you can be branded as a failure and they succeed. What’s the matter with us?
We are all very competitive in the world so as to establish a mark in the world, and that spirit is exhilarating and bold. But how much more evolved would we be if we collectively took the blame for a flopped idea or a flopped project.
Idealistic, I know. It’s too tempting to relish someone else’s failures, but if we could turn that jealousy into a more acceptable envy, I think we’d could achieve solidarity very easily.

Bill Gates who was famous for his boyish face and nerdy manner epitomized the US software colossus. However Gates, aged 52, will remain the chairman of the Microsoft board of directors and the company's largest shareholder.
Gates will now turn his attention to the philanthropic organisation "Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation" he established with his wife which is by the way, the world's biggest philanthropic organisation.
Paul Allen, who teamed with Gates to start Microsoft in a garage in 1975, will be among those attending his farewell party at a gala dinner affair Friday night.
Gates leaves Microsoft in a time when the computer era is changing rapidly with new inventions being done every now and then and challenges from Internet Superpower "Google" and long time rival "Apple" (who make Macintosh Computers) are increasing slowly.
3 top executives from Microsoft will look into the duties of Bill Gates namely Ray Ozzie who will take over the duties of Chief Software Architect, Craig Mundie who will look into Bill Gates's chief research and strategy officer duties and Steve Ballmer who will be the CEO of Microsoft Corporation headquartered at Redmond, Washington.
Microsoft is losing Gates at a time when "cloud computing" (E.g. Google Docs) is fast becoming the next big thing and shaking the "packaged software" foundation (Microsoft Office comprising of Word, Excel and Powerpoint etc) on which the company's fortune is built and also Windows Vista has flopped big time with users still preferring its previous version Windows XP and also when Microsoft Zune, once considered iPod's competitor, has failed to create an impact.

What's new in iPhone 3G?
The 3G version of Apple iPhone was officially released on June 10th. You are thinking what's new in this phone. Well let me tell you some of the important updates done to the new iPhone 3G.
From the
design point of view, Apple has modified the phone and the phone is lot slimmer than the last model. A new color "White" has also been added to the lineup of the phones, though it is available only in 16GB models and all the other models will now have a glossy black rear casing. The earphone socket has also been adjusted to accommodate normal 3.5mm pins, so that people can simply plug in any headphone of their choice. The back of the phone has also been changed from simple flat back to a tapering back to give it a sleeker look. Nothing much has changed design wise. But one of the missing features is a secondary camera in the front since this is a 3G phone and should support video calling

The earphone socket has also been adjusted to accommodate normal 3.5mm pins, so that people can simply plug in any headphone of their choice. The back of the phone has also been changed from simple flat back to a tapering back to give it a sleeker look. Nothing much has changed design wise. But one of the missing features is a secondary camera in the front since this is a 3G phone and should support video calling 
Features wise, iPhone 3G is faster than the previous model, it also has a better battery life which is would approximately 5hrs of talktime. The new iPhone 3G is equipped with an integrated GPS unit along with other location based services to enhance the feature especially with Google Maps and photo Geo-tagging. An option to delete emails in bulk has been provided, a new Contact search has been provided to find names in the address book. Complete support has been provided for viewing Microsoft and also iWork documents. It also has a brand new scientific calculator, but the best part is that it 
gives a total enterprise support to the business users. It also supports Push email, Push contacts, Push Calendar, Auto-discovery of Exchange servers, Global address lookup, and a Remote Wipe security feature.
iPhone 3G also has 'Typepad', a blogging application for the iPhone, through which bloggers can easily upload images and content. iPhone 3G will also have application called "Mobile News Network" through which it is possible for the users to watch news videos as well upload images to the site of Associated Press.

Spice and Idea merger in the offing

Idea Cellular, the Aditya Birla Group firm is on the verge of taking over Spice Communications, as the talks have reached the "advanced stage". The ball now is BK Modi's (Largest Share holder of Spice Communications) Court as he is in talks with Idea about the buyout price for his 40.8% stake in the company. According to the sources, the share price may lie between 77 -78 rupees per share i.e. around 22 billion rupees for Mr.Modi's stake.
After the merger, Idea Cellular will become the 5th largest mobile operator in India after Bharti Airtel, Reliance, Vodafone Essar and BSNL unseating Tata Teleservices.
This will also help Idea gain a strong foothold in Punjab and Karnataka circles where it had no representation though Idea already has operations in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Maharashtra, the four circles where Spice had been granted licence to operate in but is still awaiting the spectrum allocation before it could roll out services.
Being a Spice customer myself, hoping that this deal would happen for better and the services of Spice improves and not vice versa
IT Companies going green

The exponential growth of the city in the last few years had robbed it from its much famed green cover. Many people had blamed and criticized the IT industry for this. But now the things are slowly changing in the "Garden City Of India". Many of the IT biggies likes Infosys, Wipro and TCS are doing their bit for the environment and developing eco-friendly buildings/campuses. The building are being made of natural stone and the canteen have been made plastic free, the water fountains using recycled water.
As Nandan Nilekani, Co-Chairman, Infosys quoted in an interview "It is about doing things in a way in which water is recycled, waste management, so it's a whole host of things, which reduce the energy, water, and footprint of the building”.
Other Companies like SAP Labs are also chipping in to do their bit. The SAP Labs' facility in Bangalore are functioning mainly on natural light. The company sources say that they do not switch on the light till 6pm in the evening. Wipro is promoting their green computers, which uses a minimum amount of hazardous chemicals.
Though it is not just in Bangalore, Infy is planning a similar building in Jaipur and TCS is also opening a "green" campus in Bhubaneshwar.
Bangalore's Real estate sector is also jumping into this to provide the much needed infrastructure. "The Indian Green Business Council, which is part of the CII, in just the last 60 days has received applications for green home ratings for 50 to 60 million square feet of buildings,” says CEO, Biodiversity Conservation India Ltd, C Hariharan.
The potential of this "Green Building" market is pegged at 30 to 40 billion dollars and even though the initial costs are higher, IT companies are flocking towards this idea as it will help them earn some goodwill and also earn some brownie points or in this case "Carbon points" :-).

Lalu Opens a Blog

Of late, Celebrities have been hit by the blogging Virus. Be it the "Big B" Amitabh Bachchan or Aamir "The perfectionist" Khan or the industry's bad boy Salman Khan.
But now even politicians are entering into this territory. Our own Lalu prasad Yadav has opened a blog on mypopkorn.com and he intends to post every week on his blog. This has created a lot of interest among people because knowing Lalu's sense of humour, it would be a nice and humourous blog to read.
Though the first post is seriously political regarding the Gujjar's agitation and mishandling of the same by Vasundhara Raje's Government. Nevertheless his forthcoming posts may be packed with humour for which he is famous for.

Sometimes writing a personal blog can be a big problem. Though you are able to write anything you want, but this very freedom gets to you at times, leaving you thinking as to what topic should be written about, as there will be many topics about which you would want to write about in the blog. This results in what I call as "Topics Jam". The final result of this "Jam" would be to give up the idea of writing about anything and forgetting about it. That is the reason I have able to write only 6 posts in almost an year though often wanting to blog more regularly.
So here is another attempt to start blogging regularly :-)

Appu Ghar- Fond Memories

Appu Ghar, India's answer to the "Disneyland" was closed forever day before yesterday. This place had been a source of delight for every kid in delhi from the year of its inception in 1984. It was the country's first amusement park.
This news reminded me of my many visits to the Appu Ghar when I stayed in Delhi about a decade ago. It was the first amusement park I had ever seen. When I saw it for the first time, I was bowled over by the place. It seemed like I had entered a magical kingdom of sorts with amazing rides everywhere. The pricing though a bit costly (in 1997, 200 bucks was costly), but worth the experience and we could play any ride any number of times. We first took a round of the park as to what and all rides were present. and came back to the first ride. It was the 'Cool Splash', but seeing the queue, we postponed that particular ride and went on with the next ride, which was "Bhoot Bangla". We sat on the ride. I was very excited to sit on the ride. It was pretty good with screeching sounds all over, but the last bit of the ride was very scary, wherein they had kept a huge rock, which would almost fall on you and revert back. My heart was in my mouth in that particular second. I became very excited and went on the ride again.
Next we went to the "Appu cars", another name to popular "Dashing Cars". we checked out the ride while standing in the queue and saw that everyone was competing with each other as who will bump whom the most number of times, with electric sparks on the top of the fence the staff had put. It was the most fun filled ride I had ever sat on. When our chance came, I insisted on sitting alone in a car, my parents relented and they sat in a different car. The ride started and i manouevered my vehicle and accelerated and BHAM! I hit my parents car itself. and then turned and crashed into some strangers' car. I had started loving this ride and felt that the time should never end and I keep crashing my car to other cars.
We planned to have it an another go but seeing the rush at the queue, we backed out and went on with other rides like Giant Wheel, Roller Coaster, Merry Go Round, Appu Columbus, My Fair Lady etc etc. I did not leave a single ride present in the park.
By that time it was evening, we finished all our rides. so we went to the first ride that we had skipped i.e. the "Cool Splash". By this time the crowd had lessened a bit, but still had to wait a good 45 minutes before our turn came. This ride was very innovative, I thought. 8 People sat in a car, it took us up to a certain height in a snail's pace and then turned and travelled straight to a certain distance and then turned again and suddenly, the car picked top speed and it went and dashed to the water pool lying below, leaving us all wet. It was the best ride that I had ever gone. I wanted to go again on the ride but the huge crowd bogged me down. By then the closing time of the park was also near and we left for our home, reminscing on the highly exciting day I had.
From then on, whoever relative came to Delhi to meet us, I made it a point to take them to Appu Ghar with me accompanying them, but it is so sad that it is closing now forever and all these will remain as a thing of past now.
BYE BYE APPU GHAR I WILL MISS YOU!!!
